All depends where the shock sensor is mounted and how sensitive it is set.

The best place for it is the steering column under the dash.

I had the sensitivity on mine so high that if you kicked a tire with moderate force it would chirp :)

There is a sensitivity pot on it. Turn it up.

Zip tie the unit SOLID to the steering column under the dash :)

light and heavy impact can be adjusted on the sensor itself. it has a sensitivity setting.
mounting position also has a lot to do with how well it works.
generally both impact and microwave sensors work axle to axle. they protect the cabin area very well but aren't as sensitive at the bumpers.

if that installer is as good as you claim, you shouldn't be able to easily find the brain for the alarm.
It should be above the steering column, behind the speedo cluster, or some place similarly difficult to reach.

But your not looking for the brain.

Looking for a little black box about 1x1.5x3 inches. Usually has a little red LED on it. Also a pot sort of like a gain.

i can sort of see a little red LED...its like behind my steering wheel, where the dash meets the big base of the steering wheel theres a little tiny crack and i can see some red if i tilt my head just right at night. I will take a look at it tonight and look for a knob, or to see if its the brain or the box. thanks for the help fellas.

I think mine has that too.

Never used it. May be worth while if your in the extreme cold. Wasnt it like -53 degrees in minnesota a few days ago?

THats where it would come in handy, extreme cold.
