You better pack a .44 Magnum if you're wanting to take a bear down, .45 doesn't have the velocity. Placement is still more critical than power, though, and I'd rather have a rifle or a shotgun for bear defense. But a low velocity pistol isn't going to do anything but piss a bear off. At best he'll maul you right before he goes off to die somewhere.

yea the sound might scare him or piss him off. but i would deff want a shot gun with a slug but thats scarry because they usually have to be within 60 feet. a large rifle is always nice though!

really, so a .45 with fmj isnt enough to go through a bears skull? I guess gonna buy my boss's tec 9 and just have a 32 round clip to fire off at em

these are black bears anyway, they usually dont come after people for no reason. They are also pretty rare around here

yeah, hopefully I can get a hold of an AK 47 LOL, you dont think 32 rounds from a tec 9 could take a bear down? man this fuckin sucks lol.

lol nah big ole shot gun/rifle and a big ole pistol .44 ^ only. u could always try to get your hands on a desert eagle :)
