True, but you have to take that into account if you're going to offer a sub that sells in the Sony X-plod price range. It isn't like the experts are the ones snatching them up.

Well then they need to stop selling them direct...

I think I'm going to be anti-Re now...

It's funny how many people here don't like kicker, but kicker has some of the best customer service/support,good prices, and some nice products...
a LOT of companies don't deal directly with end users, or make it very difficult to do so, expecting you to go through the retailers first. That isn't very uncommon.

I don't know anyone here who doesn't like Kicker. We just all hate their piece of shit square subs.

I'd hate to be any company selling speakers because unless you have issues like Kicker's solobarics, or eD's subs, where most of them fall apart on the customers for no real reason aside from bad manufacturing or design, most of the returns are thanks to not knowing anything about clipping, and cooking the speakers, then badmouthing the company for the user's own stupidity.

If I did run a speaker company, it'd be JL style, where you can ONLY buy from authorized dealers, and those dealers MUST perform the installs for any sort of warranty coverage.

also prices for kicker stuff is good off of ebay but not through a retail store. 400 bucks for a solo 12. that thing isnt even worth what they sell for on ebay.

Better be anti-Alpine and anti-Rainbow while you're at it, then.
Same situations with both companies. Difficult to contact directly, even though they sell directly on occasion.

I was actually very happy with my L5 10s and they lasted a long time... I do think its funny when somone using a good sub with a cheap amp and badly made boxes that cause clipping and they fry the sub and its all the manufactures fault.... Im looking into Clif designs because they offer a 5 year warranty......

go for it. audiobahn owns some companies that seem pretty popular.
Planet Audio is owned by BOSS, and while Boss is mostly junk, PA gets good reports.

You may find that you have good results.

sorry, PA is owned by BOSS Audio. I'd just gotten up when I posted that. Brain wasn't working yet.

Anyway just an example of a company with a bad reputation, still owning a reportedly decent brand name.

The problem with buying RE direct is there isnt a dealer near me, but I see what you're saying... In the end I don't think RE is for me, atleast not until they get a local dealer, but maybe then?
