compustar

IMO these are the best alarms around. There range is awesome. Some of the best/most creative designs.

I have had my Compustar alarm for 5 years now and plan on getting it installed on my new car.

Its the SHF 2W-AS.

Im fairly sure this was the first alarm with an LCD pager. With the extra antenna I have, it has a 1/2 mile range. I can park my car at the mall and be able to check status at anytime I fell like it.

This alarm retailed and sold for $350 and the installation was $350 also. There are 3 places around me that sold this alarm, I called all 3. All 3 were $700 out the door. I bought the alarm for $189 from Yoni Distributors....

Ive had the alarm in one car and paid to have it done. It was to complex in my vehicle.

http://www.yonidistributors.com They dont sell like they used to, pretty much retail anymore...

Best bet is E Bay for a Compustar. Find your nearest dealer to get it installed. Not many place will install alarms they dont sell you or dont sell/install at all.

I may end up buying a new Compustar alarm for the hell of it. But if I ever buy another alarm it will be compustar!

I went with the Compustar 2WSS-AS myself.
two-way paging remote, spread spectrum technology, range up to 6000 feet, remote start, window roll up/down, immobilizer bypass, glass breakage sensor, shock sensor, motion sensor, dual-zone microwave sensor, etc.. using twwo of them. one for my Charger, and one for a 2001 Grand Cherokee Limited.
Not the cheapest alarm, but in my opinion, one of the best.

As for installing it yourself, I highly discourage it unless you have a VERY good grasp of both installing alarm systems, and wiring things like relays.
also hiding wiring, etc, and taking your entire car apart to hide the brain etc.

I have a local shop right up the street that's a Viper dealer and he'll install my alarm even if i buy it off ebay..most places wont do that so i might have them do it..it'll be $200 to install..maybe plus a little he said...id still be saving money because they want $600 installed for the Viper 791VX..i can get it for $200 on ebay plus the 200+ installation..even if it came out to $450 id be saving some money i guess...

is the only way to finda compustar dealer to fill out that form on their website? do they just call you? cause they just awnt your name/number..i dont like having businesses like that call me.

also is there a big difference in quality between like the viper 881x and the compustar 2wss? what about the 2wFM?

the 2wFM is good.. just no spread spectrum. less range.
you can buy compustar alarms NIB from ebay.

presently I have an alpine 8010 in a box, the factory alarm on one jeep (modified), the compustar on the charger, and a clarion ungo 2004 on the other jeep

the compustar dealer in my area told me they CAN install remote start on a manual but its 70$ extra or something to "override the clutch" im not really sure what all they have to do (you probably know kiki)

anyways...what is the main difference between the SS and FM (i dont remember if those are the exact model names...but i mean the top of the line, and then their next step down)

they both offer LCD screens
and both have remote start
do you know off the top of your head what the big diff. is? thanks

Is the spread spectrum technology.

I fairly sure with the SS technology it spreads the signals across a large field, making it extremely hard to duplicate. Plus it has more range, as Kiki stated.

The FM one would be just fine.

Not sure about the manual tranny part. I know they use a relay and wire it in somehow...
