Im afraid its true, we will need to know the Ohm and if the sub has only one coil or if its DVC. It will either have one set of terminals on the back or two.

Once we know this we can reccomend you an amp that will do what you need.

Your assumption on Sony is correct. The Kicker subs are the best out of what you got there.

BTW nice rug :bigwink:

the reason why they told you to just use one set of the subs is because differnt subs will usually cause cancelation on certain freqs. and do you hae an suv or something? because have subs face alot of differnt directions will also cause cancelation.

i agree. i know its cool to have a lot of subs but take it from me i compete around the US with only a single 15" sub so far i have done a 148.2 in testing with a single 15" woofer on 2000 watts. not only that but its more impressive when you go into the lanes and you have one sub and waste someone with 2-3 or even 4. i have done this numerous times to ricers and other common street beaters. and when i pop the hatch and see what i have after they heard how loud it was there jaw drops. that is the best feeling i have ever gotten from my stereo. doesnt look like were gonna get through to this one guys.

Haha...Ok well its not that I think that I'm cool because I'll have 4 subs in my car, its just...I went to Circuit City and they were like it'll be $1,800 for these two MTX Audio 12" subs and a 1000w amp...and the CD Deck I picked out and that is BS. Then I went to Xtreme Car Toyz and they were gonna sell me Rockford Fosgate stage 1 10" subs and a 600w amp and a $200 CD Deck for $800 and I REALLY dont want to spend alot of money because I dont have a job or anything right now because anywhere I've been wont hire me because Im 16, but if I can, I'll do the thing about getting 2 amps but I dont know how much of a hassle that will be...and I really want MTX Audio or Kenwood and I don't know who the hell to sell these subs to if I decide to go with two 12"s or a 15" but I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport. If someone could...just start over from scratch, say I dont have anything...no subs no nothing, and just tell me the best thing to get for the best price, because I really want two MTX Audio 12"s. Thanks SOOO much guys.

OK MTX AND KENWOOD ARE NOT MY FAVRITE INFACT I DONT LIKE EITHER OF THEM. mtx has gotten cheap and gone to the ricer side and as much as i hate to see it pioneer is headed there also. kenwood was decent and has just lost there quaility here is my advice save your money untill you have enough for something decent. circut city and best buy are outradous. the local shops are the best places to go. if you save and buy what you really want in the first place it will save you a lot of money and a lot of hassel

here is my .02 cents worth. I have been in your shoes, my first subs were Pyle driver free air subs. they hit, but just barely. I bought them for about 25 dollars each..which was high!!! Now that was back in 84, in my Regal Turbo. I know you want MTX, and I did too THEN...now they are pretty much junk. I know how you have probably heard that Kenwood and MTX rock, but in the past and only in the past. Kenwood for their headunits, and MTX for their amps and subs.
Now you can get into a pair of Crossfire Db subs, place them in a ported box, and do it all for about 200 bucks. Add a JL e2150 to the mix ($169.00) and you will punish your senses with excellent bass. But when you are trying to get on a :RE then you will miss out on some of the best equipement for the price. My suggestion is to go out and listen to some sub/amp combo's in a shop somewhere. Then see if they have a demo car that can show you them in a mobile environment. Then trust your hearing. Get what you like and what you can afford. As mentioned before, in those groups of speakers you have there, the only ones I would keep, would be the Kickers. But if you were to sell them on ebay, you could possibly get 200 or 300 dollars total and then go get you a nice set of JL 10w0's or some Elevation subs, or Bravox or whatever these guys can sell you. Or just go with that money and get what you think sounds good. Don't buy into the brand hype, more often than not, you will come up disappointed.

I hope this helps.

Like others have said, Kenwood and MTX arent to good of brands anymore. There are some decent MTX subs but they are the high end high dollar ones.

Judging by your posts you dont have much money and you want maximum BOOM with what you do have.

As I said earlier the Kickers are the best subs out of what you do have.

What I would do is sell the other four subs then use that money to fund a decent amp and CD deck. For the CD deck look for something with a MP3 function. You can avoid the lights bells and whistles as they are just a waste of $. In all reality any CD deck of a decent make, has at least ONE RCA output and MP3 functionality will be good.

For an amp then look for something with an output of 300 WRMS @2 Ohms. Taking a guess at your sub Ohms, you need to verfy!

After you get the subs, cd deck and the amp in its time to look at your interior speakers. Stock wont hold up long or probably sound very good... We will cross that bridge when we get to it though...

Yeah I would stick with the kickers also. The cavaliers dont take a whole lot to get loud.

in that car im sure there would be a ton of cancelation with 2 differnt kinds of subs. i also drive a cavalier but mine is a big POS and it just gets me places. in my mustang i run just 2 12s in a sealed box and do 135.5dbs and thats actually pretty loud for daily driving. if i were you id go with the kickers only first and maybe some time upgrade or something. 90% of kicker subs love ported boxes so you could get a ported box to get it louder too if you wanted. the thing that sucks with your car with putting a deck in you need the special harness that cost like 100 bucks to install the deck so there some money down the drain. but id get a decent amp and a deck and run the kickers even though i hate kicker thats what id do.
