well im more or less looking for a direction toward a set of subs...like i said im not looking to have the best sounding car in the state or anything just for it sound pretty good... so what i am shooting for is just being able to compete if i wanted to and just to be able to be there to gain some more knowledge and experiance. But that still leaves me with needing a set of subs?

Steven, when competing in SQ...more might not be better. Consider running just one sub, less bass and more midbass, mids, and highs with a spattering of subbass will impress the judges more than be overly "bass heavy"

well do u think a diamond audio D6 would be a good place sub for me to start with? the other thing is that im also trying to do this all to gmc jimmy..

we did a 130 flat with a diamond audio d6 10" in a .75cf box tuned to 34hz on 125w. and it sounded really really nice.

yea I like those subs...very smooth sound

but the loose there sq at anything above 36-38hz of course thats dependant on the box.

well soppose i were to get 2 12 d6's and i went with a ported box how big should i be and if i were to go sealed how big should that be? Please dont find me annyoing im just new to this and trying to learn some more

we were all there once Steven...I don't know what size ported boxes can get, but I do figure that about 1.5cuft-2.0cuft might be sufficient per 12 sealed. But I am not a box-buildin fool like most of these guys here. Mine is just a rough estimate.

on there web site they have the sizes of boxes that i guess they say u should use but i donno if i should do that or not?

Hay steven if your really serious about SQ you might consider doing a basic box built to manufactor spec, and then checking your car with an RTA to determin the best box size. Once you get an good look at how your cabin gain affects the subs output, you can use WINISD, or BassBox pro to design the box.
