15in vs 12in sub

called em up and they said $405 shipped
gonna order it after thanks giving most likely

now will i need to break this sub in? if so can anyone please assist me on what needs to be done there?

just play it at 1/4 volume for about 50 hours. I know the feeling where you will want to test it immediately to see how loud it is, but don't do it, that's how you damage a sub.

wow 50 hrs thats longer than i thought it would be but better safe than sorry.

should i go sealed or ported and how big should i go for the box im gonna be using a jbl 1200.1 for now

this is all going into a honda accord 2 door

If you have the measn to build a properly ported enclosure, go ported. If you need some diagrams made for a ported enclosure, I can do that for $25 shipped to your house.

This place sure seems to abound with misinformation and myths...accuracy has NOTHING to do with woofer diameter.

Neither mass nor woofer diameter are the limiting factor in response for subwoofers. Inductance is far and away the largest factor in transient performance, since it far and away has the largest effect on high frequency response. Remember, a subwoofer voice coil is an INDUCTOR, after all.

I'd hope anyone who's had even an elementary education in physics or electronics knows that as inductance goes up, the rolloff frequency for the inductor goes down.

The myth of larger subwoofers having worse response stems from people crossing their drivers over too high, and mistaking the effects of inductance for the effects of mass/cone diameter.

This isn't opinion, but clear, obvious, and elementary scientific fact. Adire actually has a GREAT paper explaining this.

I sincerely hope no one on this forum is dumb/ignorant enough to try and refute basic physics...

well this is going to by my first box and i would like something nice and easy what if i went sealed i want mainly sq but also good bump and dont wanna get to advanced on building a box im going to be using a jbl 1200.1 amp how many sq ft am i lookin at that i will need for air space?
