We could use some more info about how your system is set up. For starters, what type of amp are you using?

Ok first off set everything to FLAT, bass treble, and sub, and turn the gain on all your amps down to zero. Then turn your radio up about 3/4 of the way. (if you have speakers wired direct to the deck turn it up till they start to distort, and then down a little). Then adjust your gain till your sub starts to distort, and then turn it back down a little. If you have any other amp, set the gain the same way. (up till it distorts, then back down a few notches)

Oh yeah, if you have bass boost on your deck or amp, TURN IT OFF.

well yea thats a small problem... car audio and home audio dont mix very well

Yes...thats what is causing it. The subs final impedance is too low for that amp. Car audio usually isnt compatible with home audio. Unless you wanna fry your dvd player or your sub, disconnect everything.

If you are thinking about bridging the channels on your head unit...dont. It will fry the internal amplifier. Just save up a little extra cash and buy an amp that is compatible w/ your sub.
