oh, and i have a few mechanical questions for you guys, 1) when i first start up the car warm or cold, for no longer than the first 10 seconds of running it will misfire. the car has 70k on it and from my knowledge it hasn't had a tune up yet. I'm guessing its due for one but i was going to do that and a timing belt at 80k. 2) The gas gauge is way off when i have about a half tank it will be buried at empty though when i bought the car it didnt do that. and from time to time it will give me an accurate reading. 3) When should i change the transmission fluid?

Did you get a miss fire code? What cyl? More than one?

It's probably either the sending unit (inside the tank) or the gauge itself. Probably the sending unit!

Change the tranny fluid now! If you don't do it soon, don't do it at all!

agreed. Sending unit is probably bad they use a variable resistor to measure the fuel and it sounds like it is going bad.

I change my tranny fluid every 35000 to 40000 miles.

Check for bad plug wires and plugs

so today i went ahead and bought oil/filter/air filter/atf/at filter. Autozone told me that i need 4 quarts of atf to fill my tranny back up unless i remove the torque converter and that the total capacity is 8.6 quarts. I just did exactly what i needed to do in order to change the tranny fluid: drop the pan, drain the oil, and replace the filter & pan gasket. However, i got damn near 8-8.5 quarts out of it and i did NOTHING to the torque converter......so guys...i could use some HELP!

Its an 02. I filled 3.5 two liters to the brim and spilled a bunch and 7 liters is 7.4 quarts so its def more than 4 quarts by far. Oh and i found thead inserts where the pan bolts to, and stripped one of them when i pulled the pan off so it looks like this tranny has been worked on before. How much so? I have no idea i'll have to call the previous owner tomorrow. All i know is if i have to pull this damn tranny i'm goin to the junk yard and throwin a manual in there. Oh, and how do you use thread inserts, unless you think drilling/ re-tapping would be a better idea

I'd start with 4 and go from there.

Either way would work.

started with 4 and went to 7.5 and that filled it up, i didnt realize how f'n expensive those heli-coil install kits are $35 for 1 size!! so i went to the machine shop on campus and the machinist there hooked me up with a fine thread tap and bolts. Everything's working good plus i just finished the drivers door with an unknown/unmarked tweet, mb quart x over and a pair of the 4 ohm version of these guys http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-1088 for $10 a pop too. Added on a layer of second skin dampener on the entire door and covering all possible holes with sheetmetal. Hello midbass whooo. Now for the other side
