No just stating a fact. AMD invested money in the wrong tech and went 64bit were Intel went dual core. Now AMD is racing to catch up. They blew it.

Yea true, but i have faith in AMD they won't go down that easily... I like AMD they can take some stress when it comes to overclockin

I bought an MSI version of the 8800 GT.

Its plenty of card. Hell I can run Bioshock, COD4 full tilt without ANY lag.

I would advise you to set a budget and research it there.

4850 would walk all over the 8800gts

an 8800gt/gts is fine for now but future not so much. 4850 will at least give him a bit of a head start. i believe that MIS is also the base 4850 not the OC'd version

64 bit os are gonna be common soon
i run xp 64 on my athlon machine some things work awesome some dont oh well
keep thinking of getting a q6600 cpu and building something around it
ive only used nvidia cards for a while but after reading about that 4850 i might need to get one one question though is there a low profile version

im about 2 years behind on everything but that makes buying games hardware and everything else much cheaper

I have no complaint with the 64 bit Vista

Everything seems to work just right.

Im not sure if you know, there is a 32 bit program file also. Under Windows directory I have two different "Program Files" folders. Ones labeled as an x86

64 bit OS's have been out for... years. Only install one if you're planning on utilizing more than 4gb of RAM.

Second, unless you're using software that uses multiple cores, get a dual core like Bill. The dual cores are cheaper, faster and more overclockable than the Q6600. I know, I have one.
