IMO your pretty much set on aiming in the car. Theres only so much you can do short of custom.

In all honesty the aiming in the alero mid wise isnt to shabby. The tweeter area is a different story though :(

I see 2 sort of simple options.

1. build your own sail panels.

2. put them in the a pillars. you might be able to use a heat gun to form the pillars so you have a nice spot to put the tweeters.

Are your component tweeters in the sail panels?

If so thats where you need to start. Im not familiar with the speakers you bought, but almost ALL tweeters are better off axis rather than on.

Speakers are better on axis.

If they are in the sails you basically want to aim both tweets right at each other.

Currently they aim right at your head, which is what you dont want!

Center of the car. Say I'm listening to 3 doors down. The lead singer sounds like he is below my rear view mirror and about a foot and a half forward. In an ideal situation the passenger would hear the same thing. Lead singer in the center of the car about a foot and a half forward, but thats really hard to achieve with pillar mounted mids and tweets.

Every thing else (drums, other singers, and instruments) will be around him or behind him depending on the recording.

As for your tweets, tune what you have now, and see were your at.

The trick with tweets is keeping them on axis, and minimizing reflections.

With tweets off axis, you loose out on depth, but they tend to image well from right to left cause the off axis response of both drivers is the same.

The problem is that your tweeter location can make it really hard to get both tweets on axis to the drivers seat. Since most car audio tweets roll off sharply off axis you end up with one side seeming louder than the other, pulling your stage to that side above your x-over point. Sure wide dispersion tweets can help with this, but now your adding in more reflections.

So I would tune what you have, see how you like it, and go from there.

That way you have a reference point. If you move the tweets you know how it sounded before, and can change it back if your unhappy with it.

Thanks Glass, but the honor should go to you and Jonathan. You guys were the ones that got me started down this path on ecoustic. If it wasn't for the things I learned there I wouldn't have continued to study and get to the point I am today.
