Heck I'd keep the 305 and yank the 3.1 and throw the 350 in there so as to have 2 V8s :D

Purple RS wrote:I have. I'm slowly making improvements on it. Started on the suspension and installed new shocks & struts with WS6 springs, installed subframe connectors, 34mm front and 24mm rear swaybars, poly bushings throughout. Upgraded the front brakes to C5 Corvette, drum-to-disc swap in the rear. Future plans are to beef up the rear a little more, install adjustable lower control arms & panhard bar, torque arm and relocate the torque arm mount from the tranny. Then on to the driveline & tranny which I hope to be a T56 6-speed.One of the biggest expenses will be the tranny and so will the motor - that 350 most likely will be a 383 :D
Sounds like it's going to be a really nice car when youre done..

But there's alot more work to do the V6-V8 swap than to do 305-350. Fuel lines are on the other side of the engine bay, transmission bell housing is different (60 degree V6 to 90 degreeV8) as is the input shaft.

Another thing against that swap, the motor in the V6 car only has 25,000 or so miles on it. I think I'll hold onto it for a while :D

Man I love stuff like this, cars just rule, I just wish I had the money to do what I want to, to my bonneville.

Cars are so much more than just a mode of transportation, they are so much a lifestyle, an expression of....well extension of who we are. Most people don't get it, but for the ones that do we are truly blessed..

Carry on Soldier...

Oh and the wheels look nice too.

very nice work on the wheels..

altho, I think i'd have taken the tires off or covered them up while stripping the paint off the wheels. It looks like they got some gunk on them (maybe you cleaned it off tho)..

The 3.1 probably isnt a whole lot slower than the 305..

I'd keep the 3.1 as a nice daily driver, and build a 383 for the 305 car.... :thumbsup

Looks pretty good.... and the red one looks pretty damn clean and sounds like you have a strong buildup going of it.

I wish i could be doing the things i want to my truck.... taking the 4.8 out and puting a 6.0 in it would be nice.... one day if i ever strike it rich.

The 4.8's are pretty peppy, the 5.3 with a few mods can be pretty mean..

Of course the new 6.0's (car motors) are just plain mean...

Bone stock, there's about a 30hp and 50lb/ft difference. Never had the purple 3.1 to the strip, but similar cars/motors run about 18 sec and mid 70mph. My 305 bone stock ran 16.3 @ 84mph, with headers and 3" exhaust, a slightly better 15.8 @ 86mph. The V6 F-bodies with the proper suspension are better suited to road race than the V8 cars, they don't have the straight away speed, but they rule the in the turns because of the weight distribution.

Thanks, but it takes good pictures. It needs paint and all the weather stripping. Both doors rattle badly, but not as much as the did when I bought it 2 years ago. Most of the work it needs now is cosmetic, but I have to go farther than that :p The purple one I've had sine 1997 and has my latest sound system in it, I've kept it mostly stock except for the interior which I've had reupholstered and installed a digital dash.
