Ya if its a 3100 series thats known giant issue with them. make sure to get the metal LIMG its like $90. I got a plastic one here if you want it? Trade you for an Alero shifter? :p

Thats what the buick did originally. The LIMG went, I kept going as Im in the middle of the F'ing coutry side with no cell phone and its WINTER like a blizzard out...lol.

It not only killed the heads it also messed up a piston and the bearings.

Was cheaper to toss a $300 motor with 83K miles in it than rebuild it.

Yeah, it's the 3.1..

The people my uncle bought it from said they parked it as soon as it did it, but you can never know for certain.

My going to haul it out to the shop and pull the lower intake, if the gasket is blow (and Im sure it is) then I'm going to just replace the gasket and pay everything else is good. I started it just for a second to listen for knocks and to see if the oil pressure light came on, negative on both...

It would be nice if the intake gasket fixed the problem.

Well I got the car home yesterday in the cold November rain... Man I was soaked completely. My Carhart jacket was sopping wet, sat down water gushed out of it...

Opened up the hood. Guy had the alternator off, valve covers off and some rocker arms werent tight.

So I spent about 3 hours putting the puzzle back together. Couldnt find many pics on the internet of the questionable areas so it was rough. I managed though ;)

I got the battery charging. I think its dead though... I can take the charger off toss my DMM on it and watch the voltage drop by the .01's volt...lol

I need spark plug wires. The prev owner ripped one out so now I need a set. Also 5 qt oil and a new/fresh batt and time to start it up to see how bad the original motor really is or is not.

At this point Im thinking he spun a rod bearing.

Also Im not sure on mileage of the car.

So Im hoping for the cheap fix, but can drop the $800 motor in if need be.

Man you picked about the worst possible day to take that thing home... It was straight nasty yesterday between rain, snow, sleet, winds and just down right cold.

Does the oil have water in it?

Those cars are known for cranking the intakes at the egr valve, which usually results in spun bearings if not fixed asap....

It had a new intake manifold put on it as the plastic failed.

The battery is charging but Im 95% sure its junk.

I need spark plug wires and 5 Qt bottle of oil to test it out.

yeah, hopefully they didnt let coolant sit in the oil pan for very long...

Does it not any oil in it right now?

I'm planning checking out the monte tomorrow, if the compression check turns out good then I'm going to change intake gasket and pray everything else is ok...

Well he had that manifold changed out at a shop then they drove it for sometime. Then this current "noise" issue.

Im buying plug wires tonight. Going to dump in some used oil with like 6K miles on it...lol and some Marvel mystery oil with it. Hopefully start it if the battery is good. Dont know how much I can get done as its dark out by 6pm now... :(
