figured it out biill it was the fuse on the power cable. looked kinda melted. got if fixed though. should i use a circuit breaker instead of the fuse?? oh and keith yeah its the hifonics. the wires u gave me were too thick i couldnt get em to fit. so i went to go look for some 2 gauge but my local audioshop didnt have any. he recommended i get the 4 gauge cuz apparently thats what they use when they hook up those amps.

No use a fuse. circuit breakers while nice are not 100% fool proof and dont always trip. what size fuse were you using. i hate to say this but your local shop is shit. dont listen to them. all you have to do is cut some of the strands from the end of the wire to get it to fit.

What size fuse is in that 4 gauge wiring kit? and what 4 gauge kit is it? Not all 4 gauge kits are equal.

yea dude. that aint gonna work. you have an agu fuse highest ive ever seen them is 60 amp. you need to upgrade that wire to 1/0 and probably need to bump up the electrical system. it even says on the package its for a 700w amp. trust me man electrical is probably the most important thing in audio. it keeps your car and your equipment safe. i spend more on electrical than i do equipment.

I wouldnt. problem is you are most likely exceeding the max current capabilities of the wire. and increasing the amount of fusing could cause a fire. let me do some checking and get back to you.

good power chart here. with 160 amps of fusing you are exceeding the safe maximum for that wire. would you be ok yea probably but you could cause a fire and i dont want my advice to cause that. i would air on the side of caution here and wait till you can properly setup your car for the amp.

4 ga is to small. That shop sold u bunk, get ur $$$ back.
Dont try to reuse the same ends on the wire. Usually they get all beat up from set screws so its necessary to cut the end off and use fresh copper. If that still doesnt work cutting a bale of strands out is fine asits only effecting that immediate last inch or whatever...
