so you say... I am a huge believer in the integrity of products and their worth to me is better off lasting longer than in the short run. Thats why i stick to AMD. Intel has great products dont get be wrong, but those dual cores run very hot and that usually takes its toll on them very quickly.

As for price i would check Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com Or even CDW.com I usually get good deals on Tigerdirect or Newegg... i have yet to try cdw even though the company i work for uses cdw primarily

Are you planning on using an old Case from a computer? Also what about CD Drives, and a sound card... I would advise against using onboard sound as it usually sounds like POOP

need to do a little more research. the intel's are far outperforming the amd's in almost all the benchmarks i've seen.

again check out the specs on over heating... plus im not speaking out of no experience here... Ive worked with the IT department here and my Mother is the lead Network Engineer... We have found over time that the Intel's while being much cheaper in bulk tend to have higher fail rates with over heating issues...

On the pro side there is little that can beat their hyperthreading technology... AMD lacks that certain umph... but still I have had my AMD Athalon going on 4 years now and not a problem yet... My brother has gone through 3 Intel's and my other brother is on his second...

Yes my opinion is a bit biases because i haven't given Intel a chance in my computer, but at the same time why change a good thing?

Hey this is Jared's wife...

Ok first of all, I am going to be using the current case I have now. It isn't anything special and I do admit I need one with better air flow but I can't find any cheap enough that don't look fucking gay. Second, I already have a dvd drive I am going to use. I was planning on just using the onboard sound, but I am not sure. If I don't like it I can always buy the soundcard later.

And as far as going with AMD or Intel.. I've always had AMD in all of my computers. I honestly don't know which one is better. I used to know quite a bit about all of this stuff but I just stopped messing with it. Now that I want to build another computer(the one I'm using now was custom built by someone else), I'm sort of lost so. The only thing that comes to mind with comparing those two is that Intel is getting a lot of hype right now and it seems that's what all the new computers are coming out with that are advertised on tv. I myself am not one for mainstream, or jumping on bandwagons. I want something that is actually going to last and perform good, not something that everyone else is getting just because BestBuy says its good.

welcome... if you like the onboard sound then by all means go with it, but i have found that it often sounds choppy and distorted when you are running multiple applications at once if you are running it off the mothboard. Thats not to say there are exceptions... If you need better airflow and are worried about overheating issues take off one of the sides to the case or... instead of that Zalman i would go with a Thermaltake http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835106061
