Need suggestions for small passive sub
Hi All,
I just finished installing the following into my 98 Honda Accord Coupe.
HU: Pioneer DEH-P3900MP - Tweaking and management (learning) will take a while to get it all sunk in but a great unit.
Speakers: JBL P650C These JBL's are marvelous. Hated to think of hacking holes into my door panels so opted to replace the OEM's tweeters on the dash. Maybe I just don't realize how much better they'd sound elsewhere but I think they're great right there. I'm running the mids in the doors off a 40Watt X 4 Alpine and left the rear deck 6X9 pioneers on the HU. Ran cabling for back channels from the sub outs on the HU. I plan to bridge them and run a small sub at 100 watts. Thinking about a passive Bazooka tube but need more input . I'm old n gray so don't need bloody ear subs, just some kick in the shorts now n then. But, I want to save space. Since I grew up when we ALL drove American Iron with tons of room and huge gas tanks I've really downsized.
Suggestions anyone...

I would suggest a 10" Ascendant Audio Assassin in a .7 cuft box... It will sound great and give you that "Kick" in the pants even at 100 watts.... Also I would suggest possibly looking at some of the subs for sale in our "For Sale Section" Im sure you can find something interesting

Well I wouldn't recommend the bazooka tube... Try sticking with a small 10" or 12" that will perform well in a small sealed enclosure...
Do you have an amp or one picked out yet?
And yeah It's Nice to have another older member on the board who remembers Good Ole' American Iron
There's a few of us here up in years that post regularly; Myself, Joe (OnYrMrk), and Terry (Smoker) is catching up
Although I've found the older I get the louder and more bass I need because of 2 reasons... 1) I'm getting deaf... And 2) I really like the back massage from the leather seats :)

.7 cu.ft... I'm trying to picture that... My minds eye says that's about big enough to hold the driver and that's about it. Can ya help out an old guy and translate that to inches? I'm really new to this so bear with me OK?
Know of any links to complete box/drivers?
To All,
I always see the subs without a grill. I assume that's because the low freq's would rattle anything over it but how do I protect it from flying projectiles when (not if) my driving gets spirited?

Smoker....smoker wrote:ive got a single voice coil audiopipe 12 in a slot ported enclosure ill sell your for 50 plus shipping...its brand new never been installed......its just sitting on the floor of my shop getting played occasionally as a demo
Can ya say that in English? lol
I think I know what ya mean but I know beans about subs other than they take care of the bottom end.
Maybe a photo and or dimensions? Space is something I have very little of since I use my car to work out of now that gas prices have temporarily (I hope) retired my E-150.

Cargodz,
Always nice to meet another from those great years..... Nothing against the "kids" but their heads are elsewhere for the most part when it comes to music. I'm already half deaf so I just need FULL range without taking my breath away.
I'm hoping to drive the sub with 100 watts from the bridged rear channels of my Alpine MRP-F240.

Hmm ok here is a great site to figure out box size ... http://www.bcae1.com . actually its a great site for anything audio. Jease lets see here size in inches...
I think u can get a box about 14x12x10 and that will give you around what u would need for that sub... .7Cuft is a good size for that sub and will really sound great!
