Well, yes and no. To explain the yes to you would take some research on my part for accuracy in the details. With a 100 amp fuse you have a couple of things to consider. First, is your alternator OEM, or an aftermarket high ouput? If it is OEM, at best it produces 120 amps. Your amp is pulling up to 100 amps of that at a time. That leaves 20 for the remainder of your vehicle to run off of. You will need to relocate your power wire to the battery, and upgrade your big 3 at a minimum to help with the dimming. Is that amp rated for 100 amps? You can tell this be getting the sum of all fuses housed on the amp. Your inline fuse should be equal to the sum.
What part of the fuse block under the hood? if you have it hooked to the fuse block and your fuse block power wire is pretty small like 8 gage your running the risk of catching your car on fire. Do it correctly and wire directly to your battery with a fuse 6 inches or less away from the batter. and a fuse before your amps.

I did not even consider that.

Unless you're running multiple amps off that same line, get a fuse that's approximately the same value as what's in your amp already.jlangle wrote:i have a 100 amp fuse about 4 inches away from the connection.....i just wanted to know if the power block is what is causing the headlights to dim cause by batter is in a tough spot and hard to hook to side post
