Local Audio Store...rant
Went to a local audio store to grab a some 4gauge wire for my ground. Anyways
Dude wanted 4.50 a foot for stringer 4gauge. I promptly told him that was a ripoff and that I thought it was rediculous some of the prices they had.
900+ dollars for an MB RAA-1000 or whatever its called and just rediculous prices on everything.
To build a box (was just curious) for One 18 ported started around 400 dollars!
I dunno, I understand they have a business to run but jesus when you can get the same amp without a warranty for 200 I'd rather do that. I could buy 5 for the price of that one.
Anyways, I got escorted out of the building once I was told that If I wasn't going to buy something to get out. Then two dudes came and walked me to the door lol. All good eh
Anyways, when I got to my car a kid comes running out and says how much you need. I said 3-4ft he ran in grabbed a few ft and ran back out..said they didn't know what the hell they were talking about and like 1.50 a foot I gave him a 10 he gave me like 3 dollars back and I got 4 ft toldem to keep the change for helping me out.

Stores like this is the total image of how a majority of most stores are run, and hence why people resort to buying online.
Thats sad really... $400 for a box?
I think my prices need to go up then... lol

Boxes started at 200 dollars for a sealed one woofer box
They did have some prefab boxes but they were fairly expensive too...
I asked for an 18" and he said it'd take extra time to calculate something or another o_O lol
so yea, really sucks, the install guys = really kickass guys I've spoken with them before and they do an amazing job but the sales staff....thumbs down.

Things like this is exactly why I prefer to buy as much as I can online from places like KnuKonceptz etc.Ryan from Ohio wrote:Stores like this is the total image of how a majority of most stores are run, and hence why people resort to buying online.

Back when I was younger before the internet was even there. My only option was to go to the local audio shop. Where you walk in, and either the owner tried to make you feel like you were stupid, or some punk kid trying to tell you what you need but really all he cared about was commision.
I remember once walking into a shop, and asked how much some of the amps were, and the guy actually said. Doesn't matter.
I said, huh?
He said, they are onsale now, and won't be tomorrow so none of the prices I give today matter.
I just said whatever and walked out.
4.50 a ft, for 4 gauge. I would have just said I'll buy it online and come back and sell it to your customers in the parking lot for half that. (lol)
