Well lets start posting topics.
Take a topic, give it a title ina new post ending with discussion- I will sticky it.
Then start in with some knowledge...
Then others can follow up.

If someone started an imaging thread, I've got two links that are good...
OK, one I wrote, so I'm biased.
But what's fun to extrapolate back to is that there are just three things that reach your ears - your brain uses these simple things to create a soundstage - psychoacoustics.
1) frequency response
2) transient response
3) phase interference patterns
And it's not an issue of what your speakers are making - it's an issue of what sound is arriving at your listening position. It's easy to control what your speakers are making. It's complex to be able to manipulate what arrives at your ears. But when you can, that's when "create a soundstage".

joeyc wrote:I truly believe there is no absolute formula for imaging....period. You have to experiment. Then there is time alignment, but that can seriously hurt the width of your stage.
There is a way of calculating how an environment will image, but this is much easier to do in controlled environments, environments that have few reflections. In a car it would take so much effort to determine the path of sound that it's just soooooo much easier and more worthwhile to experiment.

damn theres some good knowledge on this board......i know with time alignment being more common today than it used to be is it still viable to attempt to alter soundstage with the old school potentiometers?
also i think an alarm/remote start discussion may help. it seems to be an area a lot of people dont want to screw with and its relatively simple once you understand what you are doing
