No sound from my speakers....

Post by smann »

I have a 1995 F150 truck I bought and the audio system does not work. I pulled all speakers and checked them with an Ohm meter and they all checked out fine. I also pulled the unit and with a battery checked the wires to make sure they are connected and they checked out fine. I have a Pioneer in unit and for the life of me can't figure out the problem. I guess the logical thing to assume is the unit is bad, but I don't want to buy another before eliminating all possibilities. Does anyone have any suggestions?

To test the HU see if u can pull it out while keeping it on its wiring harness, and pull out another speaker and take the purple wires (Purple solid and Purple with black) and see if you can hear anything

Does the Hu power up? Are there any lights?
Is there any sound coming from it through the speakers such as a hiss, or anything?
Does the HU hold memory?
Does the HU come on without the ignition turned on?
Does the tuner have sound but the CD player no?
Does the Cd turn/spin inside the deck?

Checking the speakers with an ohm meter doesnt give us much info. Check continuity between the speaker terminal and the HU at the crimp near the HU.

Check the fuse box of your truck under the dash and/or the hood. Also check the red and yellow power leads from the HU and check the fuses on them if applicable. Check the fuse with a continuity tester, not with your eye (been burned before myself).
