Hi guys,
I'm thinking of buying a new version RE XXX. Anyone who has heard/own one, what do u think of it. Compared to the older version? Is it worth the higher price tag??
I've been offered it (brand new) for $600 + shipping. Is this a good price? What is RE's/independent dealers price on this sub?
Also, what would be a good (cheaper) option of amplifier to power it??
Sub enclosure recommendations for maximum street bass?
Sorry bout all the questions guys, I'll be very appreciative for any replies.

Well, first off.... the new XXX is an absolute MONSTER of a sub.
I have had no experience with the sub though.... but here are my thoughts.
At $600.... that seems to be a good deal as the msrp tag is $1500+?? The only thing is that it will require a good amount of power, not a ton, but a good amount. RE's site says 2000rms, so you will definitely need an upgraded electrical system to be able to run 2000rms.
Have you actually ever had a good quality system?? If not, I think you would be much happier trying to make a lesser expensive product go loud (and spending much less doing it). If you are experienced and are ready for the challenge of trying to run a beastly sub, then i would say go for it.

Yea, that is a lot for a single speaker when you can get an entire substage for that or less. However, that sub does seem quite beastly. You'll need an equally expensive amplifier to give it the power it needs, PLUS an electrical system to complement. So, to properly do a job with that sub, you're going to need other heavy-duty components. Food for thought.GlassWolf wrote:not sure I'd pay $600 for a sub in a car. seems a bit excessive to me.
