So is this any good?

Post by KrisB410 »

Got this out of a Camaro headed for the Junkyard. Appears to fit 2 10" subs. This looks homemade, I would like to use this, I test fit it an my car and it looks good. One problem I know I'll have is that the magnet of the subs has to be 5in or less from the mounting rim. Does that make sense?

Let me know whatcha guys think!

That wood is too thin, I would not advise using it.

Looks like it is made out of Birch. You will need to figure out the internal volume to see if it matches your subs. Also it doesn't look like there is a divider in the box either, is it all one box? You don't want your subs sharing the same air space. It might be "usable" but not recommended.

Ehh IMO center divider doesn’t really do much when the box is sealed. And if it is birch the wood is thick enough birch is stronger than typical MDF but most people don’t use it because its $$$

Looks to be made pretty well. Cuts look OK, no boo-boos that my boxes always seem to have (lol)

For a free box, give it a try. Just make sure your subs specs match the volume of the box. Make sure it's sealed good ect.

Hey are those the tail lights in the background you were going to convert to LED?

I think I'm gonna try and use it. The wood is 7/8in thick, and the construction seems pretty good. The only problem I foresee is that the subs can't be more than 5in deep from the bottom of the mounting flange to the bottom of the magnet. (You guys understand that description?) How would I measure the volume of this unuasually shaped box?

And Chris, good eye!

7/8 > 3/4.
