I am hoping Team Focal will help out a little with the overall cost of these subs, but like I said, if Geo's 10's are out in time, I may go that route to save some coin

From the pic it looks like mounting depth would be the biggest issue regarding the 10's, but either way it should sound great.

yea, I have approx 5" of mounting depth. I hope I can get them to fit. The 8s would be ideal, but who knows, we might be able to make the ten's fit. The reason I wanted 8's was that I can keep the rear speaker location looking stock, retaining the stock grill, but I am unsure if I would want to do that with the 10's.

i like the idea of the 10's but i think the 8s is the best and safest way to approach that... 5" of mounting depth is not the greatest but im sure u will find a way to make it work

do you think you might have some issues with excursion and the stock grilles?

I am sure that might be part of it, and if so, I can route out the edges for clearance, then make my own grilles if necessary.

Geo doesn't have any dimension specs for the 10"s yet?

If you can save a lil dough on the deal, you could probably take the extra money for a clean custom install.

Depends on what kind of competitions you're planning on entering. Many "SQ" competitions still have an SPL cap, and in that case those 8s aren't going to be up to the task.
