I run a 2500d and I'm perfectly happy with it. The guys on DIYMA that are amp savvy said the internals are pretty decent in today's standard as well.

I prefer the old original Orion SX/GS/HCCA/GX/etc series amps, but anything from DEI these days is pretty good.
Very fair power per dollar, and solidly built amps.

Even the Viper brand?? That is DEI owned I believe. Those seem to be pretty cheap...but how do they compare to the PPI and the Orions in build quality?

All are pretty similar in quality. I used the 2500D's for 2 seasons. Just put a D2400 in my girls car on 2 10" subs and it's a nice surprizing sound.

I used 2 of last years 1200D's (similar power output) to run my 16 12's when it was first done. Used 4 of the 1200's at 3 dbdrag's last year. Strong and reliable.

If I can help you get one let me know. I have some in the classifieds section. Brand new.

Viper and Directed amps are pretty much identical guts, with different casings. Pretty good "generic-ish" amplifiers. At least as good as current Hifonics and the like, if not somewhat better I'd say.
