Job and health problems

Post by Mithrandir »

Well ive been really sick in the stomach and in other ways lately, last 3 months or so. Its been worse recently. Im extremely stressed out over work and everything. I feel like i need 2 weeks or so off, literally for my physical and mental health because im just falling apart. Im afraid to ask my boss and i know i will be harassed for months by the other 2 guys I work with. They are like 50 ish and there always like I never take off blah blah whatever. It makes me feel like im doing something wrong but my mental and physical health are severely suffering. Do you guys think this is somthing I should do or no? I mean they stress me out there a lot too, i make mistakes, this is like my first full time job, like yesterday I totally forgot there was a truck behind me and backed into it, thank fully it only broke my trucks tail light and scuffed plastics on the other truck and the guy didnt care. Im at the point where I dont care if I call off and im not sick (which I dont do accept for once and my girlfriend was more important than my job in that instance). I have bills to pay, but im so ready to give them my 2 weeks notice esp if I dont get time off. I mean im sorry I know he has to do whats best for his business but i need to do whats best for me.

So lemme know what you guys think.

You need to figure out what's causing the stress. Little things can cause a lot more stress than you would think. You also need to make sure you're eating right and getting enough sleep.

gotta love what ya do, or it's not worth doing.
life is too short to be stuck in a job you don't enjoy for the next 20 or 30 years.

keep that job and start putting out feelers for something else.
when you find better work, jump on it.

Don't stress over your mistakes. This is common, especially for me. Understand for yourself what any logical boss would understand, you are new, nervous, and this is your first full time job. Just do not make a habit of accepting those excuses to long. I agree completely with GlassWolf. You have to love what you do. Life is to long not to. Even if you must take a pay cut, without enthusiasm, you are not doing yourself, or your company any good. Best of luck to you man, stick in there, and stay strong. Don't worry with what other people say or do, concern yourself with yourself. Also, go to a doctor, you probably have an ulcer from all that stress.

trust me on this i know about stress and its bodily effects. let me explain first im 20 years old i work full time as a tooling engineer, i go to college part time (3 classes a semester) and try to run 2 small buisnesses. these all take one hell of a toll on my body i get frequent migraines and i am sick about once a month. its starting to get worse and its time i start slowing down. but they only reason i can do all this is because i love my career and the small buisnesses. - school.

I wish i could find a job in pc repair, im so good at it but im afraid to go to school for it and owe like 20000 for a loan and not be able to find a job or screw up at it and get fired.

As you may be able to tell i suffer from some self esteem issues lol

Sounds like its time for another job.

Im not sure what exactly your bills are and such. If you can do it just take a full week and the weekends off, so 9 days in total. Just tell your boss its personal time off for personal reasns. No need to tell him more, even if he asks. I would request it off a week in advance.

If he gets to be a dick about it dont request, demand. Or simply tell him, look I need to take this week off. If he says no, just tell him "look I am takign this week off".

If he values you as an employee and your future there, he will give it to you. Especially if there is enough manpower...
