Noob needs deck help on my Lexus RX300

Post by jamesw1313 »

I have a 99 Lexus rx300, and am in the process of upgrading the sound system in it. The problem that I have is that you CANNOT install an aftermarket head unit in the vehicle!?!? My first question is is this true? My second is, if it is true is it worth it to continue to upgrade the system.

If you need to know I have :

2 sets of MB Quart PCE 216's
Alpine V-power mrp-f450
Kenwood KAC-7202
a sub as yet to be determined

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have googled this question and gotten stonewalled.

im not familiar with the car but i imagine something could be done....its probably just that noone makes a kit for the dash in it and you would have to do something custom....in my town stuff like that ends up in our install bay....after cc and bb and everyone says no they come here and we hook em up

looks like you cant replace the stock deck checked crutchfield and they said the same thing. this is now a whole nother world. if this system suits you ok and you can deal with it just leave it alone or take it to a trusted shop to do the work. because they may have to mount the new deck in another place or relocate the old lots of work.

There is all ways a way. Crutchfeild says the same about my car (Navigation), but its possiable.

Talk to some of the higher end install shops around you. They should be able to give you a few options. Or you can do something like a JL clean sweep.

The clean sweep seems to be the answer, and thanks for the help.
