shoot me now

Post by lotas »

ok well i open my trunk this morning and guess what has happened to my sub...

im lucky there is no hole punched in it, but some idiot friend of mine but this box right next to it, and the edge of it had scraped into the sub surrond (From the sub excurting) so now theres a couple gashses (not so much gashes, but just areas where the surrond has kind of been eaten away...hard to explain)

anyways do i need to apply anything to it at all? its not leaking air or anything...(yet). im so extremeley pissed. thats how I get repaid for being DD and driving drunk minors?!

but yeah...im just curious if i need to add any sort of filler so it does not become weaker. thanks guys.

by the way its a 12" XXX (ya go figure)

Oh.... This blows....

I wouldnt put anything on it. Some will say nail polish, but IMO it makes the area brittle...

We need to invent some sort of a substance that is flexible, durable and easy to make to sell for such things...

Hmmmmm. A thin application of liquid latex? It comes in a little bottle like nail polish, you can buy it in theatrical makeup stores. No personal experience with this, but just thinking that it would serve a similar purpose to nail polish, and would retain flexibility.

In any case, lotas, you did a good thing. You're PO'ed now, but how would you feel if your buddy had driven himself and something bad had happened?

LOL same thing happened to mine, i messed around and made a stupid sealed box to play around with so i didnt carpet it, and one day the box moved ALL the way against the wall, theres a nasty scuff on the surround LUCKILY it did not go through the surround.

i had somethin like that kinda happen. i was giving my buddy a ride home for spring break and he had his bag in the back (w/ the subs). he assured me there was nothing hard in the bag. I had to do an emergency stop and im guessing something in his bag put a hole in the cone of a 10" L7. I didnt realize it til i dropped him off tho.

you might try putting some silicone on it. it sure won't be pretty, but at least it is both strong and flexible.
