ok well I knew the manufacturers lied about the ratings but if say the power acoustiq amp is overated and the subs are overated as well wont that even out? So even though my subs are rated at 800w rms each there probably a lot less. I dont know maybe I'll just get the power acoustiq and if im not happy with it I'll just send it back.

Before you buy, what subs do you have? I'm just wanting to know what you are running at 1 ohm. If you have a single 2ohm dvc sub, you can wire it for 4 ohms as well and broaden your search for amps to a bridgable two-channel.

matt they cant but they can calculate it out with math. volts X amps = wattage. as in multiply the voltage from the car X the voltage of the fuses and that the amout of power that amplifier can actually produce. for instance my autotek is rated for a 300amp fuse. 300 X 14.4 = 4320watts. and i actually calculate what my amp is actually producing with a clamp meter and a dmm. we have done this with hifonics amps and the higher version put out what there rated!!! there not over rated anymore they used to be but that past two years the company has changed greatly.

I guess I should have read that post! lol

Well, you can wire them for 4 ohms, so if you can find a 2-channel with 800w or less bridged at 4 ohms, then that gives you some more options as far as amps.

Okay, let's get back to what is important for him :) I would suggest as Bill said, a Hifonics amp from either 05 or 06. Mine was from 04 and it actually worked really well. For the money it was definitely worth it. It ran a little hot at 1 ohm but never shut off and powered 2 kicker comp vr's very well. It was supposed to put out 750 watts at 1 ohm, but was probably closer to 650 or 700.

I hear that the new ones are rated closer to actual output, so you may want to look into a mono version. Probably the best amp in your price range that is stable to one ohm. Check with online merchants if you want to avoid ebay. I'm sure there are places that carry those amps at a decent price.
