old amp..

Post by Scarrell »

well i was digging around in one of our closets and i came across an old Jensen amp(looks old)... im sure its junk but if it works i might use it on the front set of speakers or somethin... just to do it i guess. but anyway...... my question is... how am i supposed to use it? it has no speaker terminals. and one set of rca's and the ground, power wire... etc.. is stickin out.... on the back it says....

POWER:
black/white - Source Ground
yellow - Battery(+)
black - Power Ground
blue/white - Auto Sensor

Speaker/High Leve Input:
gray-r spkr (-) gray/black-r spkr (+)
white-l spkr (-) white/black-l spkr (+)

Model No. A800 Amplifier:
12 volt negative ground use 2, 4, 8 ohm speakers.

Caution:
Do not connect right speaker negative (-) to left speaker negative (-) or to car body.(ground).

can anyone clear up the Power section.. and then the Caution part.. does that mean i cant ground it where the other amp is? i mean it says to not ground it to the car... or does that mean dont let any wires touch metal while hot? oh and how would i run this amp? just use an amp kit and connect the wires to the amp kit and run it regular?

oh and here are some pics.. and sorry they suck

Be honest, don't even use it. From the pictures you show, I don't see any outputs to go to the speakers? The hi-level inputs (the speaker wires) is for use if you don't have RCA's. The warning is basically saying don't cross your wires, and don't ground your speaker wire to the car chassis.

I would advise you to throw it out.

What the hell is a power ground?

That this has to be old. Its small- and its JENSEN. So not worth the bother IMO.
