Well after reading all that, it seems like a SPL geared sub... if that is the goal... looks like a good driver.

Other than that, are there any reviews on them yet?

At that price range I would be looking into a Diamond TDX D9 instead...

It just came recomended to me by someone when I said I was looking for a good SQ sub. He said he has Rp'L subs before the Mag, and the Mag blew them out of the water in every respect.

I have no real expereince with either... so I couldn't say... But do take personal opinions with care...

a few subs to consider;
Resonant Engineering SE 15
Image Dynamics IDMax
RE (again) XXX
Alpine Type X (sealed box, good SQ driver)

you want a sub with a good BL that offers a lot of motor control over the driver's moving mass. That way regardless of driver surface area, you have a tight, well controlled sub so it stays accurate and fast if given ample power. How deelpy it hits, and how hard at that point will depend on the box you go with, but I'd go sealed or aperiodic if you want a sub that hits deep and has tremendous detail at low frequencies for SQ.. those are my thoughts.
BL and Qts are more important than cone surface area/diameter when it comes to picking a sub for SQ in my opinion.
With enough power and a strong enough motor, you can control pretty much any sub within reason.
