in simplest terms, the voltage of the capacitor follows the circuit voltage.
when voltage rails sag due to a lack of current, the capacitor will do the same, thus not providing any help in regards to voltage rails. A capacitor does have uses, mainly in reducing AC ripple, and reducing propogation delay, but they do nothing at all for the actual rail voltage or supply of current.

If your friend wants to argue about it, he's welcome to argue about it with myself, or Richard Clark, or really anyone with an extensive knowledge of electrical engineering who actually understands how a capacitor and electrical circuit works, but I suggest he come prepared, and have his reference material handy.

Lol kiki I love you, man...I'm gonna have to tell him to come register here so he can get flamerized.

I was arguing with him and he was like "Dont blame me if you blow your shit cuz you don't have enough current"

Which his statement is true also.

But his argument geared towards the cap being a problem solver is inacurate.

yup
lack of current will kill things
the fallicy is that a capacitor is going to make any difference.

Well that's what I was getting at was that the cap wasn't going to help. I took what he said out of context really. I told him I probably wasn't going to buy a cap, which was when he said "dont blame me if you blow your shit because you don't have enough current".
