Wow, I can't believe I forgot the SX. To tell you the truth I'd do a single 12 or 15 SX rather than anything else I suggested. It'll take 1kw all day and love it. Personally, I prefer single sub setups over multi sub setups anyways.William from NOLA wrote:I say a single RE SX 12" or the above suggestions will do you good with 1000 watts. You will want to build a ported box for it/them.
What do you drive?

What brand is an RE SX and what price range is it in? The reason I ask is because I want something much louder than my 12" Comp VR. I would like a very loud sub that has good SQ. My amp is a Kicker 600.1 and I've lately set the amp to finally stop the sub from slapping. It sounds good but it's not enough Bass for the money that I've spent on the whole system for my personal preference. I don't really want to spend more than $200 on a new sub and there really isn't enough room for two subs in my truck. Any ideas would rock. Thanks.

an RE SX is a resonant engineering sub(hince the RE name). They make affordable subs that are capable of hitting hard and sounding good. http://www.reaudio.com for more info. They cost $550 shipped, or real close to it im pretty sure. Over in the faq's section there is a price list, check that out too.

The SX line isn't that much, I wanna say close to $300 for a 15", maybe a little more expensive. I wouldn't advise switching subs to get louder. Just put that 12" CVR in a good box and you're capable of gettin it louder than you'd probably want it. There's no point in getting the SX with only 600 WRMS to throw at it anyways.

Oh hell yes. Recommended box sizes suck and a sealed box isn't gunna give you want you want. 3.5 cubes tuned to 32-35 hz or whatever your flavor is will be damn loud so long as you plan out the design and do it right. Ported's the only way to go if you're tryin to get loud. The CVR's a great sub btw..I know from experience lol.NorthQuad wrote:Should I go with a larger box or a ported box rather than the recomended sealed size box. I have lots of problems with this deal already so I really hate that sub but I would rather spend a bit of money on a box rather than another sub.

Slotted is a port. There are a varoius kinds of ports. You could go with Slot, round or aero ported. Personally, I would go with a slot port as it's cheaper than the other two options and doesn't produce nearly as much port noise which you sometimes run into.NorthQuad wrote:Thanks a bunch, I will check some out around the city and if none are of any good taste then one will be custom fit in my truck. Thanks a load audiobass10. I hope to be smokin my ear drums tomorro. What should I go with, slotted or ports?
