This is why I retired from being an MECP master installer for a small chain of stores, and just work on my own systems now, to make me happy, without regard to others' opinions.
This is also why I don't generally suggest specific products to people, either. I get tired of certain people who feel personal attacks and name-calling are reasonable responses when they disagree with my opinions.
The reason I stopped posting here for so long was actually due to someone's tirade and attacks when we had a disagreement over the quality of Sony products, in some thread nobody cares about at this point anyway. It just wasn't worth my time anymore to come here to help, and just end up spending time having every post attacked by that person. (you know who you are.) The sad part is that I actually respected this person, and considered him a friend on here, till he let loose with what he really thought.

I offer advice here and there now, when I have the time, and see a thread that relates to something technical, and not just "what amp should I buy?" Otherwise, I just try to keep an eye on things, and remove spam, to keep this a respectable place to spend time.

High Society wrote:I've been going through the same thing as well. I used to be all about LOUD....now I roll with an *cough*audiobahn*cough* 10" sub. And stock speakers. The audiobahn sub I have is the EU model made back in 01 or 02 and I actually kinda like it. Doesn't have any flames or flashy chrome. It's well built and does it's job.

I still have my 10" Audiobahn made in 02... Things still rockin... funny you would say that... I used to catch so much flack for that when I first started here... Heheh

I know how everyone feels both ways... I mean I still get excited with the opportunity to work on a car, however have no inclination to create one for myself (Satisfied with my Jetta Sound system)

I think that as you grow certain parts of you get pulled one way or another, my life has dragged me more towards my Motorcylce and of course my brewing, which have sucked more money out of my pocket than Car audio ever had the chance to...

I think you need to do what makes you feel right... This forum is more about being a support and community based place to come to with audio and non-audio related issues. To be there when you have a problem or if you are feeling like you need to talk. I think thats what makes CAC different cause maybe there are a couple of Dr. Phils on this board that will actually care to listen (You guys know who you are, and thanks for being "that person)

Terry, I hope that even if you lose interest in car audio, you still retain an interest in the people who have been a part of your life for a while, cause I know many people remember you as I do. As that funny guy down south (sorry i'm from the North) who has hillarious photos as his avatar and enjoys playing off a false but immensely entertaining sexual relationship with Bill.

Keep that in mind when you are here.

uhhhh......of what?? LOL

We all have become like family here, and it is the only board I support monetarily. It's almost like our own little clique, no matter our decisions on the road to life, i hope we all come here to meet up and talk and razz each other. I really like it here.

Honely, I think that's the bigger reason I get on here ... I tend to keep to myself for the most part and you guys are closer to being "friends" than most of the people I know here or knew in DC. Even though I never met any of you, if any of you were to pass through town, you'd have a place to stay. Well, the few of you I actually have chatted with extensively over the years ... you know who you are ... ;P

We love you too Robert.

We have a good thing going here at CAC. No other forums have a body of members that consistently get along. That my friends is rare.

Terry,

I can understand your position on car audio as a whole, but, there are a few things that keep me going here.
First, I have set my sights on proving to the world that you can make a convertible competitive in competition. DONE
Second, I love music so much that not only have I set up my car, my wife's car is in the planning stage now. Only thing left to do is purchase product...either going with Focal or with Rainbow.
Third, Car audio is the only true passion or hobby I have now. I used to have pool, but I haven't been involved in Pool for over 10 years...I have my National Championship in Pool, nowhere to go from there.

Finally, this forum keeps me grounded in knowing that said passion is still alive.

Terry, I support you with whatever you decide to do. I just hope that in leaving car audio, you don't leave CAC in the process.

Ah, I love pool. My cousin bought a pool table for his basement and it's a blast. I'm not that good, but it's fun.

My uncle had a room full of pool trophies. He's really, really good.

I guess Im still 18 at heart that is when I truly got "into" car audio. I have loved it ever since. I will never go to "the next level" and Im cool with that, I just like to try and improve myself and my system. I really do still have alot of fun with this stuff.

I love it when people come up to me and say" hey I need a sub...or cd player. And most of the time I have what they need. Not so much here lately, but I have a pretty good rep at work with some of the guys who are still inot audio.

I really hope you dont get out of Car Audio Terry, I mean do whatcha gotta do to be happy, but for what its worth I hope you dont. Trust me you would miss it. I got out for about 6 years and I felt like something was missing in my life.

I can still remember the first time I sat in a vehicle that had a subwoofer. I got so excited, I was like freakin' out. I can still remember the first time I sat in a sound quality/level car and being impressed not at what I was hearing but what I didn't hear... distortion.

I'll always be and audio enthusiast and won't let anyone ruin the joy I get from it. I can understand though, how things have changed in the industry and how that can really take the fun out of it. I'm sure for some it can or has even become a hassle.
