Another thing to think about is your charging system. 1 ohm is going to be less efficient, and more power is going to require more amperage from the battery.
If that part of your system isn't up to the task, don't bother getting a huge amp, you'll just blow it up.
These things need to be considered before recommending more power more power more power.

Agreed. I typically under power my subs and compensate with the enclosure. My current 12 is designed for about 5000rms but i have it running on a single Quart 1000, easier on the equipment and my car. Im not trying to get crazy ass numbers from my buick so as long as im happy its kosher.falkenbd wrote:Another thing to think about is your charging system. 1 ohm is going to be less efficient, and more power is going to require more amperage from the battery.

And you can hardly tell the difference between 750 wrms and 1000 wrms on music.
playing devil's advocate here, making you think (hopefully) and not just buy into the hype.
A well designed box, and placement in the car can more than make up for the difference between simply doubling the power.
These are true and good points really. I guess my brain is just slanted towards spl and it being a perfect world where the amp will never see lower than 14.4v lmao.falkenbd wrote:Another thing to think about is your charging system. 1 ohm is going to be less efficient, and more power is going to require more amperage from the battery.

I typically like to run about 80% or more of rated power to my subs.
I took a look at the sub, its rated for an even 1000 WRMS. Can it take more? Probably... I think you would be fine feeding it 1000 WRMS daily.
Just make sure you have a proper box. If Bill is building you a box then you will be proper.

HEY! I know who built that box!!! That guy is one hell of a box builder! As far as power, get the biggest amp you can afford. Then when you blow the speaker you will realize that you should have gotten a more powerful subwoofer!
No really.....
I would go with the an amp right at the rated power of the subwoofer, that way you can push it maybe an extra db or so maybe. You did say you were after spl correct? Oh, and get the dual 2 configuration. What you should really think about is upgrading your electrical system a bit first.

Exactly. I always like giving my subs atleast rated power or more, for that reason alone.loudwagon15s wrote:humm, well lets suppose you were to get a 1kw amp to run a 1kw woofer, due to imp rise and other factors, the sub probably isnt seeing 1kw, so unless your clipping the hell otta it, your golden
