It blows at 200 amps instead of 300? Which is less than 300.
I dont have voltage issues/drops. Only time thats been an issue is when alts die or are about to.
The difference being? if your wire supports up to 300 amp there is still 0 difference other than 300 amps blowing the fuse faster than 200 amps would.

I am using 2 gauge at the battery, run about 15 inches to a fuse, I got a 200 amp, then going on the fuse at the battery to the dist.block in the truck and splitting off to 4 gauge for both of my amps.

The 200 amp is fine but 15inches is a little to long IMO, do you know y that is? Before anyone chimes in and speaks up i want Tim to learn this instead of someone just giving him the answer.

As far as your 4ga id probably have a 100 on each one and be done with it.

what length would you do??

Iread a Iasca rule book, granted it was a long time ago, but then the lenght was 18 inches.

How can I say it, if it is fifteen inches or 10 or whatever it is protection for the car itself. If the wire overheats it will cause damage to the car if there is no fuse on it. You only damage a small section of wire as opposed to the whole car. This way the hot (damaged) wire wont make it into the cabin itself.

Is that right, if you can understand any of that.

Yessir for the most part. I try to keep mine under 10 inches as close to the battery as physically possible. The smaller the wire the less chance it has of causing serious damage. Remember if you do an install on a buddies car and it burns to the ground you are 100percent liable.

I'm going to throw a wrench into the gears here.

Use a 125 amp fuse up front, and no fuses on the 4 awg.

It'll be safe... Know why? Will it ever blow from your amps? I HIGHLY doubt it...

It is nice however to have a fused distro in the trunk, but its not needed here.

dis man knows his chit.

I have an Mbquart discuss 1000.1 about 1200rms at 1 and a DSC4125 on a single run of 0 gage with a 150amp fuse in the front. None in the back.

Actually, a 125 amp fuse up front, on the amps with fuse ratings you listed, I can say for certain it won't blow, unless it needs to...

Just for fun, you should use a 50 amp fuse and see if it blows (depending on the type, it probalby won't)

On stock electric, with stock grounds and such, you'll probably run into voltage issues before you pull enough current to blow the 125 amp fuse.

Back in the day when i ran meca and dbdrag fusing was how meca rated your classes. I could burp an MM4000.1 on a 60 amp fuse...
