My x-over is set at 63 Hertz 24 db on the sub, 100 Hertz 24 db on my mids and it blends pretty damn well.
I really don't like running subs past 80 hertz 24 db cause they start to become more noticeable with the sound stage. Remember at 160 hertz (one octave above 80) your only talking about a cut of 27 db.
Change the x-over points to 250 Hertz 24 db and your talking about a 27 db cut at 500 hertz. Once you get into that range volume starts to play a part in staging, so even a 27 db cut will still be noticeable.
i put that as the direction to go to not what to set it to. grab yourself a Valium and relax
and i leave mine wide open because i compete if i have a 12db slope at 80hz and my freq is 60hz well i dont need to explain it to you you know how i roll
I think we all know that Bill's goals and Jeremy's goals are much different.
To the point of the thread, you have to have a test tone that isn't effected by crossovers.
So "turning down" all settings on the amp before using a test one and DMM isn't really good advice. You should know what those settings are before turning them down.
Good example was the Low pass - in order for it not to effect 50 hz it needs to be set at 100hz (assuming your amp has 12db/oct x-overs)
And jeremy you work on F-22's and Reaper's with my luck id hook you up with a vic and you would accidentally unhook something and it would crash into my house! yea i have bad luck.
