Sealed subs reach full excursion a lot easier than ported. He's talking about "slap" which makes me think he's just pushing the thing too hard. If he's got the right sub, its wired correctly, he's running things flat, and if he's set the gains properly what else could it be?

I think Quad may simply be a dB monster.

I dunno, maybe just a really crappy ground and he's getting a huge voltage drop. What I don't get is the "plenty of excursion, no output" thing. Thats a Kicker made box isn't it? You'd think they'd get the volume right. I'd like to know the exact dimensions anyways.

Fishy, My old 12's were in a sealed box that I made in high school, I just kinda winged it. The measurements on this box are 17x15 on top and 14 inches from top to bottom one end and the other end is 11. Here is a pick of my old box and subs, don't laugh too hard I didn't really know what I was doing but the sub's were loud and no leaks. It was in my F-150 and has taken a beating over the years. She's still solid.[img][/IMG]

Ok 17x15x14x11 with 3/4" mdf should equal about

15.5*13.5*10.25 + .5*15.5*13.5*2.25

= 2380 in^3 = 1.38 ft^3 gross

gross volume - sub displacement = 1.38 - .07 = 1.31 ft^3 net

That should be plenty for that sub shouldn't it?
