Yes the Hifonics Brutus BXi608 would be a good choice
Others to look at would be:
Massive Audio P500.1
Crunch GP1500D

ajkuebel wrote:Thanks for the input. Do you have any other recommendations for something around $200? I don't need the greatest amp, just something that won't overheat. I'm thinking of only running it at around 50-60%..
Stable or not, whenever you run an amp at 1ohm, it is going to get HOT. you will also want to find a way to keep it cooler if you can. Like throw a fan to blow air across it. The cheaper amps out there may state they are 1ohm stable, but that is like saying that a drag car is street legal cause it has one headlight and windshild wipers. Sure you can use it, but is it really safe. My advise is purchase the amp first..then match it with a sub. Save up for a better amp, and then purchase a sub.

You will be better off in the end. that is my .03 cents

2 cents for the advise, 1 extra to offset the economy.

you could prolly find a good deal on a jbl 600.1, that would definitely suit that sub well

First of all Joe, He already has the sub so although going amp first then sub to match would be a good route... not really a choice he has this time round.

Second... That economy line is priceless :D

You are correct... but he may find a good deal on one used.

The replacement model for the jbl 600.1 is the BPX500.1 rated at 674w rms @ 1ohm 14.4Volts... So that would also be a good choice for a new amp, but a lil out of his price range.

How long has he had it ?? Does it have a burnt smell?? IF it is the one I looked up on Google it is made my JL Audio. Check it out first and if it checks out ok, maybe. I didn't know JL made anything other than the Slash series and the entry level stuff.
