GPS install trick.

Post by JeremyC »

Ever since I had my windows tinted, my gps hasn't worked worth a crap. I even tried splicing in a second piece of coax, and relocating the antenna to the factory tweeter location in the dash. It was better, but not 100%.

Well a few months ago, I installed an eclipse nav unit in a friends truck. As I was hooking up the antenna I noticed the only difference between it and the alpine (honda factory unit) in my car, was the connector.

So I ordered me an eclipse antenna, and installed it yesterday.

The first thing I had to do was swap the connector. Both the alpine and the eclipse use a small clip to hold the pin in place. Once I removed the clip, it was a direct swap.

Then I had to mount it. Well this is were Glens big old brain came into play.

"Hey Jeremy, your spoilers fiberglass. Why don't you stick it in there?"

INTERESTING!!!!

So I popped out the third brake light, ran the wire threw the factory grommet, glued the antenna down, and plugged her in. Whole thing couldn't have take more than an hour.

And the results.......

Nah just everyone else.

Did you know our gps satellites were designed and placed with a second goal in mind?

They actually have sensors designed to pick up nuclear explosions. So if someone does a test, we know, even if it was underground.

Hey dont' they have that technology that allows GPS receivers to be tracked. I mean thats all I would want....is the ability to get my direction of travel, Longitude and Latitude, and a homing beacon in case something happens...while I'm thinking about it how about when you are in an accident and the air bags deploy it automatically sends a beacon out. Cool I think!

Don't mean to post jack..just thinking on subject of GPS!

It isn't the actual gps system doing the talking. Thats normally a second system in the car, using the gps data to tell them were your located.
