Justin from Detroit wrote:Woah, who the fuck said they were only using 3 1500 watt amps? Yes, they hit 168dB, it's in a walled Blazer. They weren't using 3 1500 watt amps, I'm not sure what they were using to power it, I'll find out. Tons of electrical upgrades, tons of batcaps in the back. Doubt it all you want, but your ass isn't hitting 149 with a single 12" Alpine Type-R.
168 on what meter and where was it.... pics, ANY form of backup and I'll be happy. Odd how the elevation audio site makes no mention of it.

If you want, I will provide you with a vid of me doing a 150.0 with my single type R 12.

I want it on the site anyway.

btw... this was "As I was told by a prominent member here" I wont call him out :) I was also told it was on the termlab.. perhaps that was also a mistake.

ah... and also...

Why is it so "unbelievable" my single type R can do a 150... yet you expect me and everyone else on this board to believe that 6 elevation audio 12's did a 168?

hmm?

I guess many people will find it REAL hard to believe that your getting that kind of a number of them subs listed.

There are/were big shots of MECA at the Fremont show with equipment far exceeding what you listed just making that range...

I was able to find this in about 5 minutes:
DB2 -- DBSPL 2
Place Competitor Name Team State Score
1. Mark Potts Il 124.9

M2 -- Modified 2
Place Competitor Name Team State Score
1. Mark Potts Il 152.5

But it doesnt list what equipment was used...

I'm a bigger shot i guess? :)

That is last year with my wall of 2 stroker 15's. Only 1400 watts and the install had a ways to go. I took a 154.0 to finals, pulled a 153.8. Knowing what I know now, it would have been at least a 155.

I've worked with the type R and am powering it with a viper 2500d... that being said, it still has a ways to go ;)

The box is peaking at 48hz, perhaps 50 if it warms up enough today. I'll get a vid up asap.

I have yet to post this score @ meca, but I did take this to SLAP and did a 152.0 on the AC sealed up on the dash. AC scores don't mean much though :)

Kicker had an F-body install with a single 10" bandpass enclosure that hit 143.
that one was published online a year or two ago.

relates in regards to SPLs attained using a single sub in an unmodified interior vehicle.
speaking of what's attainable since you're discussing SPL of a single 12" sub.

why does anything I say have to relate to anything anyway?
nothing I post lately seems to be agreeable anyway. If I said I like boobs I'm sure somebody would come up with ten reasons they suck and I'm wrong.

"attainable", so you are also saying that 150.0 isn't possible with one 12" type R in a trunk?

Boobs suck? ppssssshhhhhh i know of no red blooded male who would say that, unless they put a comma in there somewhere ;)

never said ya couldn't hit 150. I was just mentioning the kicker setup as a point of reference.. most people didn't think you could do 143 with a single 10" prior to that.. the car won a record for its class at the time though I forget the details.
I'm really not even following this thread anymore. just tossed that in as reference material.

Didnt kicker have a single 8L7 that did over 150 dB...

I guess anything is possible if you get the right conditions and everything is right...

Things like that are hard to believe.

You posted some good scores, congrats. But how does the system sound musiclaly?

I guess it all depends on your goal in this hobby/sport.

Mine is to sound good. Thats priority number 1.

single 10 setups have gotten much louder, im sure there is at least one out there breaking a 50.

bud of mine does a 144.4 in a std cab s10 with a single RE SEXXX 10. Now if only he'd work on the box :)
