01 Toyota Tundra Install?

Has anyone done an install on a 1st gen Toyota Tundra?

Im in the process of wiring up my subs/amp and I need to know the best/easiest way to run the power wire from the battery, into the cab, and to the back seat.

I would like to keep it inside the cab rather than going underneath the truck. Looking for the easiest way to get the wire through the firewall.

There should be a plug hole to the driver's side of the engine block on the firewall. That is, if I remember right. It's been a while since I've seen under the hood of the first gen Tundra.

There is a rubber grommet where some wiring comes through (including the cable for the hood release) but there isnt enough room to run wiring through it. Ill probably just have to drill a hole through the firewall around the same area. I was just trying to find someone who's already done so, so that I would know a spot.

Ok I have to go back some time for this one, but if I remember correctly we made a whole on a Tundra install and it was slightly lower and to the left of the grommet that you're talking about then we ran the wires from underneath to make it easier.

Remember that if you drill a hole be sure to use a rubber grommet, otherwise the sharp edges can rub through the wires shielding and cause a fire.

But yeah, if you can't find a hole just take the time to drill a new one, if nothing else it'll probably shorten the path from the battery to the amp (less wire.)

And as an added good measure, put some silicone around the drilled hole before you install the grommet... keeps moisture from building in there and rusting out
