2 batteries?

i didnt go with a gel cell because i cant afford it.. if i could find a good one for under a $100 then id be good to go.

I think the Optimas start around 150$, but one of the guys on here might be able to cut you a deal, who knows.

I have no clue what the other brands go for that might be gel or other non-serviceable technologies.

So, let me make sure I understand this.

For under $100 you will get a gel cell battery.

For $150 you will not get a gel cell battery.

What will that $50 really matter to you when you are driving down the street and your battery explodes and throws acid all over you? What will $50 matter when you are blinded by acid and potentially cause an accident, injuring or killing others? What if that battery explodes while your significant other is with you? She probably won't look so hot after that battery acid is thrown all over her body. I'd venture to say that $50 won't mean a thing to you while you or a loved one are having skin grafts done to repair your acid burns.

Seriously. What is $50 when it comes to your safety and the safety of others around you?

An extra $50 will get you a sealed gel battery, so it doesn't explode in your face

No, I got it right.

He said that he would get a gel cell if it was under $100.

Gel cell's are typically around $150.

Since gel cell's aren't under $100, he's obviously not going to get one therefor continue being a safety hazard to himself and everyone around him.

Oh OK... I missed that... and yeah as far as overall safety goes that would be the way to go, but many have had luck mounting standard batteries in the trunk... You just HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT VENTS OUTSIDE.

and it could still blow up from vibration and many other things.

The key word in your sentance was "luck."

Do it right.

Go sealed or put it in the bed in the proper vented enclosure.

I bet his auto insurance would drop him like a hot poker if they knew about his non-gel battery inside the truck. Just wait until it's the cause of an accident. They won't cover anything.

He would likely be sued for negligence.
