Car harness

How come both ends of audio harnesses don't have plugs on them (1 for stereo and 1 for car)? One end has a plug and the other end wires are bare.
What's best method to connect bare harness wires to auto?

Looking for comps or coaxials? If you're using more than one pair do not mix brands because all speakers sound different (and overall sound will suffer). To me the Diamonds 6.5" I had were weak in the mids and were not full. My ADS are fantastic, extremely realistic but are no longer made. Chec...

I followed Big 3 tutorial which I forget now. But I think I ran all 1/0 ga. from (1) Neg. battery terminal to Chassis (2) One wire from alternator to battery (forget + or -), (3) One wire from Neg. battery terminal to engine block? And within a week my battery died.

Not sure about Big 3. I tried that and my battery died right away. Get a battery (Premium) which has more amperage than a standard battery that fits in your car. I have 98 Pontiac Sunfire and running 3 amps to ADS comps 100W (2 pr.), Kicker 8" subs 150W (2), JLAudio, Kenwood amps with a Standar...

I've read that these CTX for $160 are outstanding. I've read some reviews and people seemed blown away. Can't beat a price like that for good sound. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6201-ctx65cs-image-dynamics-65-component-speaker-system.aspx Here is a discussion - says tweeters seem more detailed than I...

I have the same exact door (Sunfire 1998). I took out the grill and cut a hole for 6.5 mid and mounted it in the door with a 6.5" mdf ring. I've experimented with tweeter location using velcro - they sound good in several locations but seem brighter when mounted above my torso so I keep them lo...

You need to use enough layers so the sides of the enclosure are rigid (and sealed!) - you don't want the fiberglass to move when it's under pressure. Usually 3 layers makes a good, rigid enclosure.

Look at the manual - they usually show you how to bridge 4 channels into 2 channels. If you don't have a manual look around the internet and usually can find one for free. I did that with an older Kenwood 4-channel and it kicked ass at 150W RMS x 2.

Using gain as a volume knob invalidates anything you say. And do you use your ear when adjusting the gain? I assume you use a voltmeter. Yes, this amp is not as sensitive as other amps I have. I have high quality 4 ga. power wire going to this and into ADS comps. If I get two years out of this amp ...

It absolutely does. It means that you have to drive the amp harder and more importantly it lacks the dynamic power which is needed for high quality sound reproduction. This thing gets super hot and that's not a good thing.
