Well, seems like things are working out ok for ya... Glad to hear it!

We gutted it and it still stands like that. Long story short, it costs too much to raise (it's a brick house) and we're scared to rebuild. No one knows what will happen with the neighborhood referring to what type of people move in.

We sold out to the road home; just waiting for the closing which is taking forever.

We had bought a house in a suburb right next to New Orleans (basically, just over a canal). That's where I've been living since May 2006. My parents are currently looking at retirement homes across the lake. That has been fun :)

Your family decided to stay and rebuilt, right? Did you get it all done and moved back in?

I know a little about flooding

Yeah I remeber it too. My dad woke me up at 6 in the morning to go out an look around. We were just about declared a disaster area in Indiana where we lived at the time.

Places where there were no lakes or ponds were flooded. People lost cars and houses.

It was bad

Wow someone else that remembers how bad the floods were in 93. My family went camping that memorial day, and the lake we were at came up 6ft over night.

Actually, if the government is going to do anything, they should mandate the insurance companies to include Flood insurance in areas that are prone to flooding, and have it as optional for anyone else.

Flooding is an act of God and has nothing to do with negligence or accident. Just like they have earthquake insurance in California, here in Oklahoma, home insurance covers tornadoes and hailstorms, and Fire insurance is covered on most Home owners insurance. Flood insurance should be mandatory for these areas that are prone to flooding.

We say a prayer every night for these people having to deal with the floods and loss of homes and businesses... And although the Gov't has said they are going to help... We all see how they've gone the extra mile to help those in the past :sarcasm

It's crazy, in many cases its worse than the flood of '93...

I think this year will be the year of floods...

I went floating down the meramac last week, it looked more like the mississipi...

Last year the rivers were LOW, it sucks having to jump out of the raft and drag it down the shallow parts...

We ain't yet but that's not to say we won't.

Our area gets it pretty often this time of year.
