Works fine. I've been doing it for about a year now.

There is no reason you can't use one as a starter. I say go for it, but you really don't need more than a red top for a starter batt.

HI guys,

As the title says really.. I have a 4.2l Optima yellow top as my starter atm., and have been looking to get a red top or similar as a starter (then put my yellow top as an aux battery for my amps).... but there's so many yellow tops going for cheap prices!..

Is it a good idea to have a yellow top as a starter (and to power my headunits, monitors, etc.) and then a second yellow top for my external amps???

Any help will be much appreciated! :)
