I kinda figured it was the ECM8000... better jump on that or I will :p

I emailed him, it was a type o. It is indeed the ECM8000.

TrueRTA has a correction file built in for the mic.

Ya that laptop is old... 500 Mhz...lol

But its big enough to run the program, which is all I would need.

Plus $140 doesnt seem bad. The mic is $65, program $70, preamps look to be $70-125... So doesnt seem to bad of a deal.

not bad for the price, although that notebook looks ancient, and you can buy the software on-line.

I'd just get an audiocontrol RTA and a more standardized mic for testing if you plan to use it for car audio.

I have TrueRTA on my laptop. I use a Behringer EMC8000 mic and a Behringer UB802 mixer (just serves as a preamp for the mic) with it.

That equipment cost me a little over $100, so I'd say that's an ok deal.

Search for 5000. I dont think its a type o. Probably an older model?

I think he wrote the wrong thing down. It looks just like an ECM8000 and I couldn't find anything on google about ECM5000, so. In any case, that's a great deal.

by Ryan from Ohio » Sat May 12, 2007 10:13 am

Ok, I think Im going to email him back on it!

What the hell, only live once.

Ive done a search with the number listed on that mic. Only thing I can turn up was on a home audio forum...

by solacedagony » Sat May 12, 2007 7:47 am

ECM5000 was probably an older iteration of the Behringer mics. (Current is ECM8000.) 140$ shipped sounds like an awesome deal to me.

I don't know what brand of mic that is. ECM stands for Electret condenser microphone though.

Doesn't sound like a bad deal though. You can always run the laptop and preamp from a power inverter in another car :)
