^Yup... when dealing with SPL... small is bad.
Now alot of times you can have too much space for the driver, but you really want to have as much as you can... More air - more pressure... hence "S"ound "P"ressure "L"evel :thumbsup

For SPL you want a bigger box.. that or all these people with massive walls at dB Drag are fricken insane....

the box is based on the sub...

those are general but the spl one is incorrect

thick heavy bass = bigger box
deeper bass = lower tuned frequency
louder, but accurate = smaller box, higher tuned frequency
pure spl = smaller box, very high frequency (~46 Hz)

Im looking for louder but accurate. I dont like sloppy bass that misses notes. I whould like to feel the kick drums in rock and feel the rap bass notes with authority and feel the punch in the chest. Im not so crazy about deep bass such as 30hz and lower.

Im thinking 1.5-1.75 net @ 34-36hz

His box was designed around a daily driver, with potential to get a bit louder than normal.

I dont have his box calculations saved, but its wrote on the inside of the box.

I believe it was 1.75 cubes tuned to 34 Hz. The port was 3" wide I believe and 13-14" tall...

ryan and i both design and build boxes. and the boxes are designed but they dont have carpet on them in my design's but the do come with it.

Perhaps 1.75-2.0 cuft @ 35hz whould be ideal for what im after

I listen to mostly rap and rock and dance and i know alot of rock doesnt drop below 40hz so im not sure about whats the best freq to tune this box for.
Again this is a SQL system for daily for the three types of music i listed.
Im willing to work with you ryan or anyone who can help.

Disregard my pm on my recommended size, the size box you have figured out should be cool, since you are shooting for sql.
