i had a rattle problem with my car (happens to be a honda but the metal wasnt the problem) there was something on the roof of the trunk rattling like hell...so much you could even hear it outside the car. all i did was turn the bass up...got in the trunk, and started touching different things to find out what was making the noise.

yours sounds a little more serious so you might wanna try sound damping. the good thing with trying to eliminate the rattle is that: if it doesnt stop the rattle, the bass will still sound better (in most cases)

"let me clarify, i have installed more expensive and powerful systems before, but i have never encontered such a problem. i am begining to thing the car has at one point been wrecked because the noise is so loud."

In all honestly, that's a Honda for you, especially Civics. The metal they use is razor thin, it just doesn't have enough weight to it for it not to rattle. The sound deadening will make a big difference.

Just by peel n' seel man..you can pick it up at lowe's for like $13 a roll..and u get lots of it..i've heard it does a real good job and why not stick w/ the cheap theme..

it barely rattled with the 6x9s. it was not a problem though i cound not hear it unless i was right next to the back window

if it rattled when you had just the 6x9s in there, its most likely the rear deck.

let me clarify, i have installed more expensive and powerful systems before, but i have never encontered such a problem. i am begining to thing the car has at one point been wrecked because the noise is so loud. like i said i have never had to think about sound deadener as a means to negate vibration of this magnatude. this is my girlfriends car so this is not a spl machine but i would like to be able to turn the bass up to what this small system can do (being a sq man myself)---- sorry i write so much but i am drunk right now and it is fun to whatch my fingers move at warp speed!!!!!
