well i got pissed tonight after work and readjusted everything,i turned my hu .75 way up and waited for the tweets to cut out, then backed the gain off slowly until they came back on,then i put in a heavy bass song and set my eq sub control to the 12 oclock positon, watched my voltage meter, cranked my gain until it started dropping, then turned it down until the voltage meter stopped...i am now exstatic with how everything sounds for the most part,i still need to sound deaden badly, and drop my sub enclosure volume by .25 cubes per side to tighten the bass up a little, but for the most part i am happy now...that is all :)

well my multimeter experiance was a complete waste of time...i think i must have done something wrong because my system sounds horible...here is what i have...

Crossfire BMF600D@1ohm=600wrms, should be 24.5 acv at the speaker terminals right

Monitor 1 mk 2.70 70 wrms*2@4ohms,should be 16.7 acv at the speaker terminals right, well eith the gains set as such,my cdt cl61a tweets cut out, going into protection...and my two 13Kv2's barely have any output at all...i used a 1000hz,0bd test tone for the highs/mids,and a 50hz,0db test tone for subs...my HU is an Eclipse CD8051,i have the non-fading pre out set to full range, volume set at 60,unit goes to 80 so 60 would be .75 max volume, from there i go to a Crossfire CFQ 5.2,the to the amps...it sounded better when i used seven mary three's magaret off of the american standard album to set the inpu sesitivity on the eq,and then set the amps by ear,but i listen to a little everything so doing it that way when i play some haystak,or bubba sparx, lil john, etc it overloads the eq,volt meter drops a little,i have a stinger 1 farad and an optima yellow top, with a 105 amp stock alt,i would think it would be able t handle 740 wrms...i thought using a multimeter was the correct way to set gains, but it's jut not working...what have i done wrong?

thanx for the replys guys...so what frequency,or song, would be best to set my eq gain with...the manual says to find a "dynamic recording",what would work well?

think about it.
the speaker moves back and forth. the current has to be alternating. :)
the pre-out signal is basically a very low voltage version of exactly what's sent from the amplifier to the speakers.

i feel dumb but is the power coming from the amp to the speakers ac or dc?

by Jszar » Fri Jan 14, 2005 8:38 am

ugh i'm a retard...i was thinking the remote lead.

by GlassWolf » Fri Jan 14, 2005 7:33 am

this is a pre-out. it's an AC voltage.

set the volt meter to DC 20v. it should have a section labeled DC in the corner, and a spot to turn the nob to 20. that means it will read a maximum of 20 volts in that setting. take the red lead, and hold it to the pre amp wire, take the black lead and touch it to the body frame. tada, your voltage.
