The gain was set correctly, but that is also relative considering input sensitivty between the 2 is different. If you wanna get technical, input sensitivity on my 600.1 is 0-5 volts. IIRC, input sensitivity on the IX406 is 0-2volts I believe, I will have to check, that could be wrong. I am sure that if it is someone here will let me know.
Aside from it all, any amp from a reputable manufacturer will be underrated somewhat just ensure a consistent quality product comes off the production line.
if thats the case (i could be wrong) that may be why it doesn't sound as loud.. could be wrong though.

good to hear it powers up. i was hoping it would. and yes, kicker undderrates all their products really, so yes it is underrated from the 40x6 listed. ;)

can't wait for my install in a few weeks hopefully.

He asked because it could seem louder if you had the gain set higher on this amp then the one it replaced. I know you said you can tell it is underrated, but really you cant, not by listening.

sure the gain was right and such?

The sub channels are rated 115x3. It sure as hell was not 115 watts I was hearing, but hey, thats why they make o-scopes and such. We are not to determine such things are we? Either way, I understand your sarcasm, because output differences are not generally audible unless we are doubling power, changing enclosure ect.

by Justin from Detroit1 » Sat Oct 21, 2006 7:38 pm

So how did you figure out it was underrated by listening to it?

dkguitarist wrote:you better enjoy that amp and take hella good care of it. :D i appreciate the deal bro. good luck with everything.
Don't worry, she will be well taken care of. I hooked it up briefly today and was quite surprised to be honest with the output. Sub output pushed nicely, rear sounded beautiful on my minds, and the highs were absolutely screaming. Makes me think I may soon be in the market for new components, for sure better midbass. :happy055:

Very nice :)
and you know I don't think any of us would have even noticed the carpet had you not mentioned it... we're to busy looking at the amp ;)
